While
growing up in Ennis, Texas I spent a lot of time at my dad’s
sign business. I would pick up his Signs of the Times magazine and
read it, and I would help where I could. In my portfolio is a
photo of my working with him on Harry Burden's Steak House sign
when I was 10 years old.
Dad
could pick up a 1/2" brush, pull it 4" and he would have
a line 1/2" wide, 4" long, and all four corners would
be square!
Mother
painted beautiful pastoral scenes with her oil paints, and I remember standing and gazing at them while growing up.
It
was in this environment that I learned a lot and gained an appreciation
for art and graphic design. However, it was not until I began using
computers in the mid 80's that I began to focus on the type of art
I wanted to do. Macintosh and Adobe gave me the tools I enjoy using!
In
1989 I established SBM Advertising — and that name goes back
to my dad's business — and have enjoyed working with a variety
of clients on numerous projects. In 2006 I began working on HomeTown
Illustrated which focuses on publications for cities, regions, businesses
and organizations. The added value for these organizations is having
their publication placed on the web so that it can be seen by people
in another county, state, or country.
Today,
we design and produce full-color brochures, magazines, books, and
political advertising products. And our committment is to provide
quality services and products for a fair price, and to do what we
say we will do.
